The most significant benefit is that you get a system that would cost tens of thousands of pounds as a bespoke solution, for a fraction of the cost. VV took 250 man days to develop and test. The average price per day charged by a web design company is around £300 (about the same as a main dealer garage and cheaper than a plumber). We'll leave you to do the maths1.
But cost is not the only benefit:
Clearly your website will need to be styled to your requirements. Each of our customers has their own unique style sheet (CSS), technology that allows us to personalise your website. There is no restriction on the colours that can be used on the website other than colours that the browser imposes (for example the light blue Internet Explorer uses for a select drop down list). Content and images on your home and other pages can also be tailored for your needs.
The system has been designed for screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. This is a sensible restriction as a significant number of users will be viewing at this resolution.
However, this is a package solution and there are some minor restrictions imposed by the system. For example the gig listing email that your prospective customer receives displays in a fixed format that has been well thought out and is aesthetically pleasing (you will see an example later in this document). If you wanted the system to display, for example, the artist picture on the right instead of the left then the system will not do this without modification. That is not to say it cannot be done, just that you are now moving away from a proven package solution and back into expensive and time consuming bespoke development.
That said, we are keen for our system to be a flexible as possible and our goal is to modify the software to meet all our customers' requirements.
These restrictions are minor. If you arrange a demonstration of the software we can show you how individual your website can look when configured and styled differently.
We design our websites with accessibility in mind and with regard to the Disability Discrimination Act (1995).
